Paramount Pictures had taken the unusual step of releasing the first few minutes of its latest movie to the public in an effort to generate buzz among horror fans.

Publicising the impending return of The Ring franchise as ‘Rings’, the company hopes to get the word out about the movie before a horde of trailers land during the Super Bowl, with which it will no doubt be competing with.

Rings’ YouTube channel hosts two new videos, a traditional trailer showing The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki watching the cursed video, and of course, the first few scenes in the film, an airplane looks to be in severe trouble as Samara’s supernatural trickery puts the passengers in danger.

The studio will no doubt be testing the performance of its uncut trailer for future releases. Check out the Johnny Galecki trailer below.

Last month the studio launched a far reaching Ring prank that saw the horrid Samara crawl from a TV set in an electronics shop, scaring people unfortunate enough to be browsing the wares at the time.
