Nintendo has chosen an unlikely setting to promote the portability of its brand-new Switch console, by catching one games addict with his pants down while snatching a quick play of Mario Kart.

Hygiene issues aside the unconventional playing position is geared toward expanding gamers horizons beyond the living room and bedroom witht the portable gaming console, proving that even a toilet break can be a marketing opportunity in the right hands.

Masterminded by Nintendo’s European division, the commercial aims to build awareness of the device ahead of its 3 March launch, with the ‘anytime, anywhere’ sales pitch deriving from a detachable tablet style controller.

This can be carried on the go (or when you have to go), preventing players from being bogged down on the couch. It is certainly a departure from the clean fun of Nintendo adverts from yesteryear.

Just make sure to wash your hands afterwards.
