A virtual reality climate change documentary which has been in the making for over three years has seen the first light of virtual reality day at the Sundance Film Festival.

Melting Ice has been produced by Condition One as a follow-up to their 2014 short An Inconvenient Sequel and tracks former vice president Al Gore’s campaign against climate change.

In the new documentary Al Gore issues a stark warning of the dangers posed by climate change while visiting Greenland to observe melting ice sheets -portent symbols of a changing climate brought about by global warming.

What follows is a beautiful trip through snow fields, glaciers and running water which can be viewed with an unrivalled sense of presence for those lucky enough to own a VR headset.

Melting Ice is currently available on Google Daydream with an expectation that it will eventually be made available on 360-degree video.
