Danielle Long joins The Drum as Asia Pacific correspondent

The Drum is excited to announce that Danielle Long is joining the publication as Asia Pacific correspondent, with a particular focus on Greater China.

The appointment adds significant senior and international experience to the expanding team. Long has been freelancing for a number of years following senior roles in Australia and the UK. She was editor of AdNews and Branded Arts Review in Australia, as well as news editor of New Media Age in the UK.

Long will be covering the latest news from China and surrounding countries, as well as news from her native Australia.

Commenting on the appointment, Charlotte McEleny, Asia editor of The Drum, said: “Danielle and I worked together in the UK at New Media Age and she taught me everything I know about agencies. As we prepare to turn up the dial on Asia Pacific at The Drum, I couldn’t feel more confident in having Danielle as part of the team. Her experience and knowledge of the Australian and Chinese market gives us a new perspective on two very different but equally interesting and important parts of the region.”

The Drum first announced the plans for the Asia business in late 2015 with the launch of the Asia Pacific office in Singapore in March 2016. During the past year, The Drum Asia Pacific has focused on getting to know the industry and understanding the region via Singapore, publishing the Singapore Innovative Agencies Guide in September.

The Drum’s Asia Pacific audience has grown significantly over the past year. The hire of Long is the first in a series of efforts to grow coverage across the Asia Pacific region.
