Figures from media and advertising have been recognised in the 2017 New Year's Honours list including Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour being made a dame, a CBE for M&C Saatchi chairman Jeremy Sinclair and an OBE for Credos director Karen Fraser.
This year's honours, which also see Olympic champions Andy Murray and Mo Farah receive Knighthoods, include many names from across society being recognised for their contributions.
Wintour is made a dame for services to fashion and journalism while Sinclair takes the CBE for services to advertising.
Pearl & Dean CEO Kathryn Jacob is given a CBE for services to the Promotion of Equality and Diversity and Karen Fraser is recognised for services to diversity and equality in the Advertising Industry.
Dr David Watson, director at IBM research, who will take a CBE for services to science and engineering research, said: “I am immensely proud to have been given this honour. My work over the past 12 years with EPSRC has been very enriching and enjoyable in both a personal and business capacity. It is very interesting to be involved in how the UK handles the next generation of technological change. It is a privilege to work with the EPSRC Executive in Swindon and also to have spent time on Council with some of the UK’s most eminent scientists and engineers.”
Meanwhile, it has emerged that former Watchdog presenter Lynn Faulds Wood has rejected her MBE in protest to the use of the word "empire" and claiming that the system is "unfair."
