Glasgow-based agency Wire is evolving its brand with a complete relaunch encompassing its new strategic approach, a slew of senior hires, fresh branding and website.

Emphasising the agency's ambition is the creation of a creative board led by former Leith creative director and The Drum contributor Gerry Farrell (he talks about what youngsters can learn from veterans here). He is tasked with cultivating young talent at the agency.

Underlining the shake-up, which among other things, has seen the six-year-old company founded and co-owned by Pam Scobbie and Lee Beattie drop 'Media' from its title, is the creation of three teams to better deliver integrated campaigns to clients, these are named after the agency’s philosophical foundations.

The ‘Make it Clever’ team will deliver insight, trend-watching, research and data. The ‘Make it Creative’ team is the creative studio where ideas are cultivated and produced. Finally, the ‘Make it Famous’ team which will have under its umbrella the agency’s PR, digital, influencer relations and event management.

Bringing its overall staff up to 22 is the hiring of Ed Walker, previously of Lambie-Nairn, as head of design, John Collins from Grey London, as head of planning and Emma Koubayssi, all the way from Ogilvy Sydney, as head of campaigns. Additionally, Melissa Rynn has also joined the team as innovation and insights manager.

Pam Scobbie, co-founder and creative director told The Drum: “For the last seven years we’ve been thinking about how to make PR different. The rebrand for us is to help articulate what our process is. For clients who are value drive, they want to understand how we’re producing for them, our three teams form a 360 process. From clever – to creative – to famous and back to clever where we can reflect upon our work.

Lee Beattie, co-founder and strategy and culture director, added: “We’re got a core team that’s been with us for many years and we’re building upon this with these new hires. We’ve worked hard to create a progressive culture offering flexible working hours, enhanced parental packages and a strong learning and development package.”

Along with the news, The Drum learned that the agency secured work with Magners and Chaplin & Cork’s. These build upon existing clients Jura Whisky, BAFTA Scotland, Grahams the Family Dairy and Marketing Edinburgh. In 2016, Wire picked up CIPR Scotland Outstanding Consultancy of the Year 2016 and PRCA Best Consumer Consultancy in the North 2016.
