For November 24th-30th, 2016 - Top 5 Digital Original Series in the US and Average Demand Expressions™:

  1. Gilmore Girls, Netflix: 37,944,835
  2. Marvel's Luke Cage, Netflix: 9,363,491
  3. The Grand Tour, Netflix: 9,195,940
  4. The Crown, Netflix: 9,040,920
  5. Stranger Things, Netflix: 8,733,657

Insights from Parrot:

  • The revival of Gilmore Girls was released on Netflix on November 25, and immediately overtook all other recent hits to become the most popular digital original series. It has over 4 times more demand than former top titles Luke Cage, The Crown, and Stranger Things.
  • The remaining four shows on the list have similar and stable demand, as indicated by the time series plot. The second-highest series is still Marvel's Luke Cage which only has 7% more demand than the fifth-most popular series Stranger Things (the oldest title in this group).
  • For the first time in many weeks, a non-Netflix title is among the top five digital original series by demand. Amazon's The Grand Tour, starring the former hosts of Top Gear, is being released weekly since November 18th and so its demand may remain high during the course of the season.
