PHD launches in South Korea with HeeYoun Yang at the helm

Omnicom Media Group has announced that PHD is to open an office in South Korea as it continues to expand its APAC offering.

The new operation will be headed up by HeeYoun Yang, who has been appointed as managing director. With over 22 years of experience in strategic media planning and digital, she joins the network from Proximity Korea where she was the general manager.

This year, the PHD group was appointed to handle Volkswagen's US$3bn global media account, and also experienced significant wins across the region adding the likes of Carnival, Swisse and Allianz to its roster.

Commenting on the news, Susana Tsui, chief executive of PHD Asia Pacific said: "South Korea is one of the most economically progressive nations in the world. Their culture embraces innovation and technology which are the key factors that keeps South Korea competitive, resilient and top of their game - attributes which resonates with PHD’s DNA.

"HeeYoun is the perfect choice to be my partner in Korea. Her entrepreneurial spirit, her fight and her determination is a natural match to ensure that we have a strong PHD offering that will cement PHD’s presence."

The opening, effective immediately, marks the 19th office in the APAC region for PHD, bringing the network total to 89 offices globally.
