November and December 2015, which includes Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the holidays, accounted for 45 per cent of all TV sales; early 2016 Black Friday numbers are strong, so this year may be even better.

When it comes to makes, Samsung remains number one (39.9 per cent of the market share), followed by Vizio (17.5 per cent). And when it comes to retailers, Best Buy’s banner year – its stock price has nearly doubled since January – has been led in part by its strong TV sales. Best Buy has accounted for 29.8 per cent of all online TV sales, followed by Amazon Direct (21.6 per cent).
