Publicis.Sapient, the digital arm of Publicis Groupe, has announced that it is merging digital agencies Razorfish and SapientNitro to form a new entity called SapientRazorfish.
Alan Wexler, currently CEO of SapientNitro, will now serve as CEO of the newly-formed company, while CEO of Razorfish, Shannon Denton, will take on the role of chief strategy officer for SapientRazorfish. President and CEO of Publicis.Sapient Alan Herrick will now move into the role of chairman, while Wexler and CEO of Sapient Consulting, Chip Register, will become co-CEOs of Publicis.Sapient.
According to Publicis.Sapient, the holding company merged Razorfish and SapientNitro “in response to client needs for digital expertise at scale.”
“By creating SapientRazorfish, and by implementing a more integrated management structure, we are combining the very best digital and technology assets in one combined unit,” said Herrick in a statement announcing the merger. “SapientNitro and Razorfish have been clear market leaders since the invention of digital. To now bring them together builds on the great success we have seen in many recent collaborations with clients.”

Other agencies under the Publicis.Sapient umbrella include DigitasLBi and Sapient Consulting.
