Princeton University Professor and poll expert Sam Wan made a risky presidential election bet. He tweeted on Oct. 18, 2016, that, “It is totally over. If Trump wins more than 240 electoral votes, I will eat a bug.”

As the election finished, Trump grabbed 290 to Clinton’s 228, 50 more than Wan thought.

“I think that the eating bug thing is itself sensationalist and it keeps us off of important policy issues such as Supreme Court appointments. Donald Trump had a great conversation with Obama and he can make a grand gesture like say, ‘you know what? I am representing all of the people, I am going to show everyone who I am and what I am made of.’ … There are things that can happen to bring the country together but I think the bug thing is not one of them," Wan said.

So what did Wan do? He ate a gourmet cricket on CNN to make good on his bet.

“After all I was wrong. A lot of people were wrong but nobody else made the promise that I did.”
