CP+B Boulder has hired a new group strategy director, naming former Integer Group strategist Ethan Decker to the post.
Decker is an accomplished marketer and scientist, holding a PhD in urban ecology and human evolution from the University of New Mexico. Before joining CP+B Decker was VP of insight and strategy at Integer, where he led a large team creating award-winning work for Procter & Gamble, Kellogg, PepsiCo and MillerCoors. Prior to that, Ethan was Planning Director at 72andSunny, where he led strategy for Discovery, Nike, Quiksilver and Roxy. He was also at Radar Communications, an ethnographic research firm in Boulder, conducting global research for Intel and Unilever.
Decker began his career as an ecologist, studying complex systems theory at the Santa Fe Institute and publishing work in PloS One and the Annual Review of Energy and the Environment. He has also presented on the science of marketing, including SXSW and TED.
At CP+B, Decker will oversee strategy on the Domino’s account and other accounts.
“What we love most about Ethan is that despite his deep expertise and scientific mind, he's always willing to throw it all away and invent something completely new,” said Eric Zuncic, Chief Strategy Officer, CP+B. “His innate sense of curiosity and creativity, backed by the rigor of real scientific analysis is a rare find in our world. Most importantly, our creatives noted that he is the ‘Perfect amount of weird to help us make great work’ – which is about as good a compliment as I’ve ever heard.”
