The winner was announced at a ceremony in Newcastle, chosen from a shortlist featuring Cath Ryan, head of brand and advertising at JD Williams; Heike O'Leary, group marketing director at Lookers plc; Richard Clark, marketing director at Boohoo.com UK Ltd; Zoe Burns-Shore, head of marketing at First Direct Ltd; and Paul Kirwin, marketing director at Pure Gym Ltd

The CIM Northern awards is an annual event and this category shortlist and winner was selected by The Drum’s Recommended Agency Register (RAR).

The award identifies the marketing leaders based in the North who have demonstrated great marketing leadership, improved marketing performance and achieved growth for their brands.

The shortlist was confirmed following analysis of submissions collected from brands across the Northern region.

Steve Antoniewicz, director of The Drum's RAR, said: “We were delighted again to support this award, which highlights great marketing practice from brands in the North. There were so many strong candidates for this award and it was difficult to narrow the shortlist, never mind choose the winner.

"This year’s winner has made a tangible difference to the marketing performance of her company in a short period. Well done to Emma and all the nominees.”
