Male grooming brand Gillette has latched onto Star Wars: Rogue One hype by airing a themed commercial doubling as a film trailer, showcasing several exclusive scenes from the latest installment in the franchise.

Gillette’s take on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, depicts a Rebel Alliance soldier in battle with a troop of Stormtroopers – only to rewind to the soldier in questions early morning grooming routine.

What will excite Star Wars fans the most however isn’t the image conscious soldier’s choice of razor blade but the segments of action footage sandwiched inbetween which offer a tantalizing glimpse of the tropical paradise locale and action set pieces Lucasfilm and Disney have up their sleeves.

These scenes include shots of a beachfront idyll disrupted by the Empire, rebel alliance spacecraft and a look inside their top-secret base – all thought to be included under license from producers rather than being custom shot.

Lucasfilm earlier teased a Rogue One trailer on NBC's coverage of the Rio Olympics as it seeks to steadily build anticipation ahead of the holiday release.

Among the movie's partners are also General Mills, Gillette, Nissan and Verizon.

Duracell has released its Star Wars creative underlining how toys help propel the imagination of children. Similarly, Gillette also ran an ad showing how important a shaved face is when tackling the chores of the day - in the ad's case - a full scale Star Wars battle.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will air for real in December.
