Online marketplace Notonthehighstreet.com has revealed its all-important Christmas ad, putting the creators that sell through its site at the heart of the documentary-style spot.

‘Magic is Real’ – which will officially launch on Sunday 6 November – tells the story behind its products and shows viewers that its more ‘magical’ to give a carefully chosen gift.

The advert opens to reveal a man in a workshop, sanding down a personalised Christmas box while agreeing that this is his busiest time of year. A second maker is then shown creating bespoke jewellery while commenting ‘it must mean a lot to people knowing that something has been made by us’. Then a third creator puts her hair behind a pointy ear before a reindeer and 5LEIGH number plate cement the idea that Notonthehighstreet’s partners are like elves at Christmas.

The elf theme will continue online via an ‘Elf Help’ gift service which will run through Facebook Messenger.

There is also a bespoke ‘Elf Collection’ on the website, featuring 25 unique products, created in collaboration with notonthehighstreet.com Partners.

This will also be supported by a cross-media campaign including radio over the next two months.

“We're excited to be launching our Christmas campaign and telling the story of the people who really do make Christmas magical - our 5,000 small creative business partners,” said Hannah Webley-Smith, who is marking her first Christmas as customer director at the brand.

“We hope it will inspire the public to get into the spirit of Christmas and to believe in the magic of thoughtful gifting. And as a wise elf once told us, ‘There is no perfect gift. Only a gift perfect for someone’.”

It was produced by creative agency Mother and directed by John Dower.
