Hillary Clinton seizes the US presidency in Tinder global user ballot... except in Russia

Tinder users have swiped who they are backing in the US presidential election into the dating app, giving Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton a clear lead in the week leading to the big day.

Last year, Global Web Index stated that 83% of Tinder users are between 16-34 years old, comprised of 62% of males and 38% of females, giving a good idea into the base the company had when putting out the poll.

The global ‘Swipe the Vote’ initiative went live in 16 countries to hit home the importance of voting amongst millennials, in partnership with the Rock the Vote group.

57% of American users matched with Hillary Clinton and 43% matched with Donald Trump in a blind survey of the issues alone. However, when asked which candidate they back, 53% said Hillary Clinton and 47% said Donald Trump.

Below is a breakdown from the company on the issues.

Globally, 80% of users matched with Hillary Clinton, and 20% of users matched with Donald Trump, based on the issues. However, Russia was the only country where Trump managed a majority despite voters being more aligned with Clinton on the issues.

The ‘Swipe the Vote’ poll surveyed users in the US, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain and the UK.
