Sean Duffy returns to Newsquest as commercial director in Scotland

Sean Duffy, the former commercial director for First Rail, has returned to Newsquest as its commercial director in Scotland with the ambition to transform the business, five years after he left the Glasgow newspaper publisher.

Duffy joined Newsquest this month for a second time, having previously held the interim role of change management director at National Express for nine months, his initial spell at Newsquest where he led the sales team lasted almost a year-and-a-half before he joined First Rail.

In his new role he will take charge of all commercial elements within the Scottish presence of Newsquest, including the sales directors, for the publisher which includes the Herald, the Sunday Herald and the Evening Times among its 24 local and regional news brands. It is understood that he has also been tasked with transforming the digital side of Newsquest Scotland too and that the new position will be part of the Scottish Operational Board for Newsquest Scotland that is being developed to lead it into the future.

Other roles held by Duffy in his career have included commercial director for STV, interim head of marketing at News International Scotland and at the People's Postcode Lottery he was a commercial strategy advisor.
