This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Bauer Media

Bauer Media’s group digital managing director Sam Jones is set to depart the business at the end of October.

Jones has been in role for two years, responsible for Bauer Media’s digital business. Prior to joining Bauer, Jones was group director of sports media company Perform Group, chief operating officer and co-founder of music branded content and distribution company LoveLive, and sat on the advisory board for Telegraph Media Group. He is still a board advisor at advertising sales house Mapp Media.

During his tenure he unified all digital operations in the UK; re-developed Bauer’s technology platforms, consolidated over 100 products; scaled monetisation across native, social and programmatic and launched a mobile-first data and insight stack which has been integrated across the group.

Getty Images has promoted two senior officers, Tara Comonte and Craig Peters, to executive vice-president.

Before her promotion, Comonte was senior vice-president and financial officer before starting her new role. While Peters was previously senior vice-president of business development, content and product.

MEC Manchester

MEC Manchester has named Mick Style as chief executive with Emma Slater set to take over the day-to-day running of the agency as managing director.

Style's promotion follows 13 years as managing director, during which the agency has seen rapid expansion over the last four years which has seen it double in size.

The new role of chief executive will see Style lead the agency’s across the Northern English regions with a focus set on identifying new opportunities to drive new business and specialist services development.

Iotec

Adtech company Iotec has announced its second appointment of a new chief executive in under a year, with the recent arrival of Paul Wright, an industry veteran who steps into the role following the exit of Tom Bowman.

Paul Wright had previously headed up operations at Apple's iAd

The appointment of media veteran Wright, who previously headed up Apple’s mobile ad network iAd outside the US following earlier stints at Bauer Media, Omnicom, plus Sky and elsewhere, represents the startup’s second high-profile chief executive appointment in under a year.

Possible

Possible has made a strategic move by hiring Zach Gallagher as its chief strategy officer, Americas. Gallagher will report to Brandon Geary, global chief strategy officer and will work in partnership with the Americas leadership team out of the Los Angeles office.

Gallagher comes to Possible from Deutsch LA, where he was EVP of digital strategy, leading marketing efforts for VW and Taco Bell. Before Deutsch, he was director of interactive strategy and emerging platforms at Wieden+Kennedy and previous to that he held executive level strategy positions at IPG Media Lab, TBWA Chiat/Day, Saatchi and MRM.

Socialyse

Havas media solutions company, Socialyse, has named Olivier Gonzalez as global head of the network.

Gonzalez will take care of driving innovation and performance across the agency as well as developing campaign through strategy, data, content and media.

RKCR/Y&R

RKCR/Y&R has appointed managing partner Priya Patel to the role of managing director, replacing Vicky Jacobs.

She will keep her previous responsibilities managing a roster of client business but also assumes oversight of the agency’s operations. Patel reporter to Jon Sharpe, who took over as chief executive last December.

Patel takes the reins from Jacobs, who is taking time out of the agency for health reasons after taking on the role in 2014. Patel’s appointment caps a 10-year career at the agency that has spanned some of the firm's most celebrated work, including those for Virgin Money, Volvic, BBC, Bank of Scotland, TUI and M&S.

Exposure Digital

Exposure Digital has appointed Sophie More to newly created role client partner.

In the role, More will be responsible for driving the new business agenda following the plans to expand the company.

Having previously been business director, More has set up the brand experience division alongside direct James Wallington.

Flamingo

Flamingo has announced the appointment of Lee Gazey as managing director of new Flamingo Health.

Having previously been managing partner of healthcare at Hall and Partners, Gazey will oversee healthcare strategy and development of the business and team.

Brand Networks

Brand Networks has appointed Greig Dowling as director of business development.

Dowling has over 10 years' industry experience with previous experience including IFLScience, Todacell and Isobar.

He said: “I’m excited to join the Brand Networks team and help companies across the EMEA region make sense of social, and devise effective strategies to reach customers with interesting, relevant content across the globe.”

APAC people on the move

Ogilvy Melbourne

Ogilvy Melbourne has announced the hires of several new seniors including Danielle Chapman as group account director, Rebecca Heard as senior strategy planner and Ryan Clayton as senior art director.

Managing partner of Ogilivy Melbourne, Gavin MacMillan, explained the need for the hires due to the new work the agency has brought in. He said: “I am delighted to welcome this talented trio to our team.”

North America people on the move

Facebook

Facebook has poached Electronic Arts’ vice-president Rachel Rubin Franklin as the new head of its Social virtual reality team.

Franklin has served as an executive producer at EA since 2011 where she oversaw the running of the studio behind the cult PC game The Sims.

In her new role at Facebook she will work with the Social VR leadership team including Michael Booth and Lucy Bradshaw to make the company’s Oculus Rift VR ambitions a reality.

Disruptive Media Lab

Disruptive Media Lab (DML), a New York digital boutique firm, has hired executive, Michael Goldberg, who will take on the chief creative officer.

Goldberg comes to DML from Victoria’s Secret, where he was in-house executive creative director, responsible for creative output at the retail brand. Before Victoria’s Secret, Goldberg was global executive creative director for Beats by Dre.

CP+B LA

CP+B LA has reached across the country and the Atlantic to grab two new creative directors – Barnaby Blackburn and Gustavo Kopit.

Blackburn and Kopit come to CP+B LA from Wieden + Kennedy London, where they spent that last two years working together as a senior creative team on Nike and Danish butter brand Lurpak.

Prior to that, the pair was at RKCR/Y&R London, working with clients that included the BBC, Land Rover, Oxfam and Virgin Atlantic, while also helping to win the Visit Britain global business for the agency.

Audio Network

Audio Network has appointed Mary-Lis McDonald as general manager for North America following the company’s recent hires including Time Gerhartz and Naomi Koh.

The Emmy award-winning executive producers joins the music group from Meredith Corportation where she was head of video.

Wells Fargo

John Stumpf has stepped down as chief executive and chairman of Wells Fargo after the bank's image was hit hard by a scandal relating to its sales tactics.

The one-time boss will be replaced by the firm's current president and chief operating officer Timothy J Sloan, with the bank noting that he won't be given a severance package at his own recommendation.

His departure follows on from continued reports about the company's tactic of creating fake accounts using customers' names without their consent. This was reportedly done by employees of the company to meet unrealistic sales goals with some outlets alleging that the practice had been ongoing"way before 2011".

Studio Something

Pete Burns, former MD and founder of Blonde Digital (part of the Cello Group) has joined creative studio Something Something as MD, with Mykay Kamara (ex-Coca Cola, Lloyds, BSM) joining as director of ventures and corporate affairs.

The company has rebranded as Studio Something with a view to expand the company's business model into both creative services and venture based digital products and IP.

With an existing office in Edinburgh, Studio Something has also opened its London office on the back of securing a series of new business wins. This will be headed up by Mykay and is based in King’s Cross.

Clients include Tennent’s Lager, Universal Music, Red Bull and Channel 4.
