Emotional Eamonn Holmes Sky News sign off cut short
An emotional Eamonn Holmes had his final sign off as a Sky News anchor cut short by his co-presenters who made the most of his final seconds in front of the camera to pose for a spontaneous group hug.
Holmes had been anchor of the Sunrise slot for 11 years and co-presenters Nazaneen Ghaffar, Isabel Webster and Jacquie Beltra weren’t going to let him walk off quietly.
Signing off for the final time Holmes said: “In 11 years, I have had to report on some awful news, but I’ve also had to report on some really fantastic news as well, some really uplifting news and we should have more of that.
“But the main thing is, it’s not important who presents the news; the news is the important thing.”
Holmes opted to quit following Sky’s decision to move to new studios, arguing that the time was right to try a ‘new approach’ with a different presenting team.
