Samsung’s bid to turn a corner from the self-combusting Galaxy Note 7 fiasco has been derailed after it was forced to halt production of the replacement handset, amidst reports that this too is a fire hazard.

Amidst widespread reports of new and improved smartphones continuing to emit smoke Samsung has agreed to ‘adjust the production schedule to ensure quality and safety matters’ whilst investigations into the nightmare batteries continue.

Samsung issued an unprecedented recall of the first iteration of the device in September amidst a categorical assurance that fixed devices were safe to use.

The mobile maker said: “We continue to move quickly to investigate the reported case to determine the cause and will share findings as soon as possible

"If we conclude a product safety issue exists, we will work with the (US based) Consumer Product Safety Commission to take immediate steps to address the situation."

In a sign that patience is fast running out with the South Korean manufacturer AT&T and T-Mobile have announced that they will temporarily suspend all Note 7 sales and exchanges until the matter is resolved.
