An enterprising company is looking to offer Apple fans the chance to experience the joy of receiving a new iMac without breaking the bank by introducing a scented candle which it claims replicates the odour of a freshly unboxed device.

Twelve South has already sold out of the Mac Candle, which boasts scent notes of mint, peach, basil, lavender, mandarin and sage with a burn time of up to 55 hours during which the $24 gimmick will infuse the air with the scent of fresh electronics.

In a statement Twelve South wrote: “If you think you’ve seen everything, here’s a new one,” Twelve South wrote in its announcement.

“Ever open up a new Mac box and smell it? (Or is that just us?) We took that scent — and literally bottled it. Meet the New Mac soy candle. No kidding. It’s kind of awesome.”

Twelve South has developed an innovative line of Apple-themed wares including an iDrink can cooler and custom t-shirts.
