This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Twitter

Twitter has appointed Kristin Binns to head up its communications, following the departure of Natalie Kerris in August.

Kerris, who took on the role of vice-president of communications earlier this year and left after less than six months, opened up a space for Binns, who is joining from health insurance giant Anthem (formerly Wellpoint).

Binns will take on the role of senior director of Twitter communications, overseeing the platform’s corporate and consumer PR. She will report to Twitter’s chief marketing officer Leslie Berland, who has been running the communications department since Kerris stepped down.

Coley Porter Bell

James Ramsden has been appointed as executive creative director at Coley Porter Bell.

In the new role, Ramsden will be responsible for the creative leadership and vision of the agency as well as prompting the company’s design team and its clients. With 22 years' experience, he has previously worked with a number of UK brands including Lloyds Bank, Scottish Widows and Odeon.

Chief executive Vicky Bullen, who Ransdem will be reporting directly to, said: “James’ depth and breadth of experience and knowledge in creating visual identities and brand communications, will be invaluable as we look to expand our offering.”

Fetch

Fetch has announced a number of senior appointments, hiring Jonathan Dove as business development director, Sara Patel as commercial director and Alex Musson as UX lead for the agency.

Dove, founder of marketing and new business consultancy Paloma, joins the mobile-first agency with more than 15 years’ experience, having worked with brands including Harvey Nichols, Sainsbury’s and Guinness.

Reporting directly to managing director Jo Sutherland, who is configuring the agency to deliver its mobile-first proposition to the UK market, Dove will work to integrate mobile amongst advertisers.

Hearst Magazines UK

Hearst has promoted Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles to the position of chief content officer for the publisher.

Moving up in the media company, she will be responsible in the newly created role with overseeing the company’s full stable of magazines globally, looking for new business opportunities and expanding TV and live events.

Hearst's president and chief executive, Steven Swartz, said: “Joanna has terrific editorial and business acumen and has emerged as a strong leader during her 10 years at Hearst, both within the organisation and the media community.

“She is an innovator who operates at every level and an ideal addition to our leadership team."

Hearst Magazines UK has also promoted Emma Ventura as editor of Jamie Oliver’s monthly magazine.

In July Hearst won the publishing account for the chef’s food, travel and lifestyle title, Jamie magazine, which became the second publication to sit under Hearst’s content partnerships division, Hearst Made.

Ventura has been with the magazine since September 2014 and steps up from deputy editor of Jamie magazine. She will lead the editorial strategy of the magazine as well as managing its content and the editorial team.

Eurosport

Ralph Rivera, former director of BBC digital, has been appointed to the newly created position of managing director of Eurosport Digital, owned by Discovery.

Rivera’s post as director of digital at the BBC was made redundant earlier this year after six years in the role. During his time as the digital boss, Rivera was responsible for all digital media services, including the launch of VOD service BBC iPlayer.

Rivera has been looking at how to reinvigorate the BBC’s offer to the public on education since, the BBC said.

Dentsu Aegis

Dentsu Aegis Network has named ex-ZenithOptimedia and MediaCom digital chief Stefan Bardega as chief executive of iProspect UK.

Bardega (above, left) will report to Tracy De Groose, chief executive of Dentsu Aegis Network UK & Ireland, (above, right) and will work closely with iProspect’s existing leadership team to deliver the agency’s growth ambitions.

In addition to his iProspect responsibilities, Bardega will also have group-wide accountability for accelerating digital capabilities and growth across the UK, to help the network's roster of clients, which includes: British Airways, Sky, Diageo, British Gas and Kellogg's.

Hotwire

Hotwire has announced the appointment of Amy Ronge as senior programme director in the agency’s consumer team.

Stating her PR career with the company eight years ago, Ronge will be responsible for delivering creative campaigns for accounts such as SpareRoom.com and Travelex.

Having left the company in 2012 to persue a career with Atomic, Emma Hazan, deputy UK managing director was pleased to welcome Ronge back. She said: “As we continue to develop compelling content-led campaigns that drive consumer engagement for our clients, hiring talent like Amy will further ensure our campaigns hit the mark.”

Crispin Porter + Bogusky

Creative duo, Genevieve de Rohan Willner and Selma Ahmed, have been joined Crispin Porter + Bogusky in London.

The pair, who move from Sunshine, recently paired up and have together worked for clients including Nike Girl Effect Live, GHD and BBC3.

Ahmed, a prominent voice in the ad industry’s current diversity drive, has worked with agencies across London including VCCP, McCann and 101 while De Rohan Willner worked for Elle magazine before moving to Sunshine.

Rapp

Customer relationship marketing agency Rapp has appointed Laura Holme as vice-president, new business and marketing director to lead the agency's business development and marketing activities in the UK.

Holme will report directly into the Rapp UK chief executive Chris Freeland, as they, along with president Sophie Daranyi, accelerate the focus on organic client growth and new client wins.

Prior to joining Rapp, Holme held the position of group new business director at Publicis UK. Holme has 15 years of industry experience, having held positions within agencies including McGarryBowen, DraftFCB, HTW/Wunderman EMEA, CDP Advertising and Ballyhoo New Business & PR.

Flamingo

Flamingo has announced the promotion of Sam Gomez from head of client strategy to London co-chief executive, as well as the appointment of its first group chief operating officer Robert Nagadowski.

After joining Flamingo in 2001 and founding the Singapore office in 2003, Gomez will partner with Ednyfed Tappy, current agency head, to shape and lead the London business.

Meanwhile Nagadowski will be based in the London office working to ensure the agency systems, tools, processes and facilities across the existing eight offices.

Omnicom Media Group UK

Omnicom Media Group UK (OMG UK) has announced the appointment of Serhat Ekinci as director of OMG Ethnic, where he will work closely on client relationship and work to boost growth of consultancy.

With 8 years' industry experience, Ekinci joins the agency from GfK where he was digital research director. He said: “As an ethinic minority who grew up in Istanbul and who now lives in the melting pot of London, I have a keen understanding of the differing behaviours of ethnic communities.”

Edelman UK

Edelman UK has made moves to strengthen its digital arm, poaching OMD UK’s Toby Gunton as general manager of digital.

The newly-created role with see Gunton join the Edelman UK executive operations team where he will be responsible for bolstering the agency’s digital specialisms and services for clients across the entire UK business.

Starting in October, he will have a remit to focus on leading digital innovation for client campaigns. He will be part of the PR firm’s global digital capabilities team, which is led by the agency’s global digital chair Kevin King.

Circle Health

Circle Health has announced the appointment of Alex Singleton as lead communications and marketing.

In his new role, Singleton will be tasked with heading a six-person team responsible for digital marketing and brand advertising as well as political engagement and communication.

Joining from London First and with experience from both the Telegraph Media Group and Adam Smith Institute, Singleton will be based in London.

APAC people on the move

Havas Media Group

Havas Media Group has promoted Anwesh Bose to chief executive of its Indonesian business.

Bose, who is currently managing director in Indonesia, will take over in October from SK Biswas, who is set to leave the group.

Vishnu Mohan, CEO of Havas Media, Asia Pacific, said: "I would like to thank Biswas for his contribution to our regional and Indonesia operations and wish him the very best for his future endeavours.

Grey India

Grey India has appointed Arun Raman as national planning head based in Mumbai to lead the agency’s strategy offerings across India.

Raman returns Grey from Lowe Lintas where he worked as executive director across India and Sri Lanka with clients including Unilever, Axis Bank and Indian Rayon.

Chairman and managing director of Grey India, Sunil Lulla, said about Raman’s appointment: “We are happy to have him back in the space that he can explore freely to lift our brand’s strategy, and provide a whole new identity to our agency and client’s products.”

North America people on the move

ABB

Guido Jouret has been appointed as chief digital officer of ABB.

Following 20 years with Cisco where he worked as general manager and pioneered the Internet of Things, Jouret will lead the development and deployment of ABB’s digital solutions for customers across all businesses.

Jouret will work from ABB’s Silicon Valley and Zurich offices.

Realeyes

Emotion measurement technology firm Realeyes has announced the appointment of David Bilicic as their head of global sales and strategic partnerships, and John Tomcheck as US-based commercial director.

With over 25 years’ experience in the industry and work with brands such as Tropicana and Taco Bell, Bilicic will strive to develop the business with a focus on the US market.

Meanwhile, Tomchek, who has held senior roles throughout the industry, will combine both client and agency side experience to overcome challenges faced by clients.
