LG and Amazon launch smart home partnership
Electronics giant LG has teamed up with Amazon to create a new smart home services partnership designed to capitalise on the burgeoning potential of the connected home.
The tie-up would see LG integrate Amazon services such as the Alexa virtual assistant into its SmartThinkQ hub, which enables homeowners to control their appliances via voice recognition technology.
Commenting on the deal Jo Seung-jin, head of LG's appliances business said: “We will work with a wide range of partners to deliver differentiated smart-home solutions to customers.”
Other opportunities include integrating Amazon’s Dash feature to allow easy repeat orders for common household items such as loo roll and washing up liquid.
