A trend kickstarted by Wolfsburg and emulated by West Ham and Manchester City has now found its way to Portugal with the club snapping up 21-year old Francisco Cruz, who became the youngest ever Fifa champion with a 2011 victory.
Additionally, the club will play host to an upcoming eSports tournament called G2A Lion Games, looking to enforce the bond between gamers and the club.
G2A's co-founder and chief marketing officer, Dawid Rożek, said: "G2A looks forward to the way in which eSports grows each year. With each project, we take eSports one step further. Partnering with such a prominent team as SCP shows what a bright future there is in store for this global industry."
Sporting Lisbon is the club where football greats Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Figo started their careers. G2A organises more than 100 events across the world.
