Sometimes, the best ideas start as a joke. As Philadelphia-based independent agency Red Tettemer O’Connell and Partners (RTO+P) discussed the Democratic National Convention, kicking off in the city today, the idea of “painting the town blue” came up. From there, someone in the agency suggested changing the name of the agency from “Red” to “Blue” for the week.

Steve Red, one of the RTO+P founders and namesakes of the agency would never go for that, right?

Wrong.

Red was 100% up for going “blue” to celebrate the week to the point that the agency changed their name to Blue Tettemer O’Connell and Partners. The agency identity has also taken on a new, blue hue on their website and social channels (Facebook and Instagram).

Oh, and Red himself is going by Steve Blue this week. Go ahead, call the agency and, after the receptionist says “Blue Tettemer O’Connell and Partners,” ask for Steve Blue.

Some other ideas bubbled up to the surface — one of which involved drones but, according to Red (Blue?), “that was quickly deemed a bad idea.”

The agency, including its LA office, where some of the Philadelphia team ventured to watch the spirited Philly DNC festivities, leans a bit on the blue side in terms of support politically — but Red (Blue?) pointed out that there are “a few really loud ‘Reds’ (in this case, Republicans) mixed in.”

As for his preference on who takes the White House this fall, there is no doubt on who Red (Blue?) would like to see.

“Hillary. Why? Because Trump.”
