Lucasfilm is set to bring the story of Star Wars bad guy to life in virtual reality with the production of an all new film based on the asthmatic antagonist.

Written by David S Goyer, who has also penned Batman Begins and Man of Steel, the interactive experience has been created by xLab and will draw viewers into the story by allowing them to make key decisions.

Though still untitled the piece will slot into the existing Star Wars universe and will dovetail with the new live action film currently in production as well as the line of novels and comic books.

Goyer commented: “You are the visitor in this story that is happening in and around you, and to a certain extent you might even have some effect on [the narrative]. You can pick up things, you can open things. You can push things, you can walk. You can touch characters.

“The difference between cinema and television and VR — particularly with the fidelity that [the xLab] team is working on — is that you really feel like you're there. The sense of presence isn't just a buzzword."

Whilst such content may seem like science fiction Goyer is confident of realising the project within two years.
