Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has taken to Twitter to drop some tantalising hints as to his future plans for electric car manufacturer Tesla, just weeks after agreeing a takeover of renewable energy firm Solar City.

In an effort to regain the initiative after weathering a series of torrid headlines denouncing that deal, as well as two seperate crashes involving Tesla vehicles, an ambiguous Musk states that he is ‘Creating a seamlessly integrated Tesla battery and solar power product that looks beautiful’.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently investigating the crashes involving Tesla vehicles including an incident where a Tesla Model X collided with a motorway guard rail, although the business refutes suggestions that the autopilot function may have played a part in that crash.

An earlier 7 May crash in Florida occurred whilst the car was operating in autopilot mode.
