Previously head of brand strategy and development, Jeavons will take on the position at the end of July working alongside communications director Mat Sears who was appointed to his role earlier this month.

EE’s marketing department has seen a series of departures since its merger with telecoms giant BT in January, including the exit of chief marketing officer Pippa Dunn. Meanwhile McHugh, whom Jeavons is poised to replace, left without another role to go to.

Jeavons has been with EE for 14 years, having formerly worked on both the Orange and T-Mobile brands and helping to launch the EE brand itself. He will now be responsible for the company’s brand strategy and management, as well as all marketing activity, including media buying, digital, advertising, social media and retail marketing.

EE said that Sears, who has worked with EE for over a decade will continue his role as director of PR and corporate comms and take on additional responsibilities around sponsorship, internal comms and social comms under the position of director of communications.
