Scotland’s Innovation Centre programme has released an animation video developed by Heehaw, the Edinburgh-based video, film and animation specialists.

The animation explains to the viewer how the eight different Centres, with their in-depth knowledge of innovation in different sectors, can take an idea or work process to the next level and how their network can help connect with academics, funders and other businesses. The animation was a collaborative project with all eight centres having a key input into the development of the film.

Stephen Crowe, assistant director of communications at the Scottish Funding Council, said: “We’re investing over £120m in creating innovation centres as catalysts to make exciting new things happen between industry and university research here in Scotland. We needed an animation that got across all the ambition and all the opportunity that innovation centres contain. It also had to communicate complicated things very simply and powerfully. It’s been a great piece of collaborative commissioning by the Innovation Centres and a fantastic execution of the brief by Heehaw.”

Mally Graveson, managing director of Heehaw said: “The team at the Innovation Centres were brilliant to work with. Right from our first meeting they were onboard with our ideas and it was great to produce such original content in this awesome Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design. I’m very proud of my team who developed it in such tight timescales.”

The video was launched at the recent TedX Glasgow event, where the Innovation Centres were a key partner.
