In his new role, he will still be responsible for leading McCann New York but will also lead other shops within the agency group including San Francisco’s TwoFifteenMcCann, Hispanic agency Casanova McCann and Canada’s MacLaren McCann. He will report to McCann Worldgroup president Luca Lindner.

Before joining the agency’s New York shop as president in 2013, Macdonald served as CEO of McCann London. Under his leadership in New York, McCann has won clients including the New York State Lottery, Choice Hotels and MGM Resorts.

Harris Diamond, chairman and CEO of McCann Worldgroup, said of Macdonald: “Chris has done an outstanding job leading New York. In his new role, Chris will bring the same proactive, client-focused growth approach to our North American team with an emphasis on strengthening our integrated creative, strategic and omni-platform capabilities.”

While Macdonald's expanded responsibilities make his role a new one for the agency, Robert LePlae held the same title from 2009-2011, where he “directed the portfolio of McCann Erickson and McCann Worldgroup agencies across North America,” according to his LinkedIn.
