The retailer began its hunt for a customer director in January following the departure of marketing director Ben Carter, who moved to Just Eat.

Over the past six months Notonthehighstreet has been ramping up its marketing efforts, including more experiental activity in the form of pop-up shops. With that in mind it wanted a marketer that could ensure the customer experience remains at its heart, bringing together product, experience and marketing.

Webley-Smith joins from Benefit UK – a brand that has been built on experiential marketing – where she was marketing director.

She will lead a newly formed marketing team including Sarah Atkin who was recently hired as head of brand marketing, Ben Irons who was tapped from PHD as head of digital and Louise Winmill who recently joined from Freuds as head of corporate communications and CSR.

The company also recently appointed Mother to support its ATL communications.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time for the company as we enter our second decade,” said Simon Belsham, chief executive.

“With her wealth of experiential experience and expertise, Hannah will bring great insight that will help us to further build on these foundations and develop our unique customer experience, as well as strengthen our growing management team.”
