US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has been forced to delete an apparently innocuous image of Redding Airport, California, from his Twitter account- after a flight simulator enthusiast informed him that it was in fact a simulator screenshot and demanded that it be taken down.

The mix up arose when Jesse Doorman first posted the graphic to YouTube in order to entice people to click through to his Flight Simulator X video from where it was apparently picked up by Trump seeking to advertise his latest campaign rally stop-off.

Doorman said: “I never gave them permission to use it. I’m not a big fan of any political game of any country and since he has a big pile of money he should be able to find other things to use that are not property of someone else.”

A subsequent email to Trump’s campaign team so the tweet swiftly deleted.

The environment itself was rendered by flight simulation specialists OrbX who have voiced no objection to the reproduction of their work.
