B2B marketing agencies Gyro and Stein IAS were both named Agency of the Year in their respective categories last night at the Business Marketing Associations Awards gala held during the ANA/BMA16: Masters of B2B Marketing conference in Chicago.
The agencies gyro and Stein IAS won in agency of the year categories of large agencies ($25m and over) and small agencies ($25m and under) respectively for their creative works this year beating out Doremus, MRM/McCann, Quarry and Traction who had also been nominated. Additionally, the marketer of the year was awarded to Kelly Caffrey, director of RIA Channel Acquisitions Marketing at TD Ameritrade Institutional. The corporate marketer of the year award was presented to Accenture ($1bn and over) and to DCP Midstream (under $1bn ). The best of show award was also presented to Accenture.
The BMA's prestigious award program recognizes and honors business marketers who exhibit excellence in innovative global brand strategy, customer marketing strategy, integrated internal and external marketing communications strategy, e-business and or new media strategy, and successful new products and service introductions. More than 260 companies entered the B2 Awards across 23 general award categories. The six top award winners mentioned above are acknowledged for outstanding business building marketing programs.
For Gyro CEO Christoph Becker, the win was particularly significant because two of the company’s clients DCP Midstream and TD Ameritrade also received top honors. "The win for us is fantastic but I am also very pleased that our clients were recognized. This is a very proud moment for us," Becker said. "What I feel is this is also an iconic time for our industry as B2B marketing is increasingly recognized as an area where a lot of creativity is happening. I also believe that business connected to a higher purpose is also a trend that is one of the most important going on right now."
Stein IAS has won the Agency of the Year category five time in seven years, which according to judges illustrates the diverse and strong work the agency is doing. "Our team has led the digital, tech, data driven and creative world and we are doing transformational work” said Stein IAS head Tom Stein. “I have been working at our agency for 30 years and have never loved it more than I love it today."
For marketer of the year winner Kelly Caffrey of TD Ameritrade Institutional she noted that "I work with a brilliant team at gyro and it has been a wonderful collaboration and we are proud of the work we have done." Caffrey has been with TD Ameritrade for seven years and is responsible for driving brand awareness, consideration, and leads for the advisor business.
