Facebook has started to roll out a new timeline feature that splits posts into topics – such as TV or pets – giving people “a new way to see a stream of stories”.

Facebook

The social giant starts testing the feed in Australia with a pop-up alerting people to the change.

It allows people to change their timeline settings so that, by default, they will see posts bundled into topics. The topic groups set by Facebook can be customised by the user and new ones can also be added.

For example, in a Pets topic people can customise using phrases like “Amazing Animals” or “Animal Rights”. Facebook will then fill the timeline with related stories from Pages a user likes as well as other content they might not have seen.

The home page addition has been in testing since last year.
