The ELeague tournament is a joint venture between Turner and WME | IMG and will see some of the world’s top eSports teams come together on ‘Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’ over a ten week period.

People with access to Turner’s channels in Asia will be able to view the weekend finals, which will be preceded by rounds that will be broadcast via gaming content platform Twitch.

Marianne Lee, Turner’s head of general entertainment content in Asia, said: “We already know the scale and popularity of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in this region, and to offer this tournament to our viewers so soon after the US premiere, is a real milestone for both channels. Building up towards the end of July, weekends will be transformed for the millions of gaming fans out there who have never had such unrestricted access to this growing phenomenon.”

The final global championship will be held on Saturday, July 30, offering a prize pool of US$1.2 million, and shown as-live on both truTV and Warner TV.

The tournament includes one team from China and another team that originated in Australia but is now based in the US, showing the global nature of the eSports phenomenon.
