Dove tells true story of woman proposing to her longtime crush in touching short film
In an effort to show viewers why sometimes the most exciting moments in life are the ones that make us sweat the most (and subsequently plug its deodorant), Dove has rolled out a heartwarming short film about a woman who decides to buck gender roles and propose to her boyfriend.
In a three-minute film called ‘Amazing Moments,’ a 22-year old German woman named Louisa tells the story of how her teenage boy band crush ended up becoming her fiancé.
She explains how when she was 12 years old, she stumbled across a poster of a boy band singer wearing eyeliner and sporting a Mohawk. She liked him so much that she bought the poster and put it right above her bed.
Nearly ten years later, she moved to LA and got to talking to one her neighbors, Rob. When she asked him how he knew German, he explained that he used to be in a boy band in Germany.
“At that moment, it kind of clicked,” she says in the film. “I just thought to myself, ‘oh my God, I was totally in love with you when I was like 12.’”
After the two began dating, Louisa decided that she wanted to propose to him in the same place where they first met.
“Traditionally the guy asks the girl, you know? But I never really follow traditions. And I hope he is going to be okay with it,” she says.
After she proposes and he says yes, the two embrace before Dove ends the film with the message: “Sometimes the moments that make us sweat are the most amazing moments of all.”
The video was created by Ogilvy & Mather London and directed by Peyton Wilson from production company O Positive.
