UK consumers favour giant global brands over home grown businesses when it comes to perceptions on reputation, according to a new survey collated from 50,000 ratings from the British public.

IKEA, Lego, BMW

The Reputation Institute’s UK RepTrak showed Lego, IKEA and BMW safely nestled in the top three positions with Sony, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Rolex, Samsung, Bosch and Kellogg’s rounding out the rest of the top ten.

Of note is the fact that on this measure just two UK brands made the top ten; Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin, with the rest of the table dominated by foreign entrants.

This ratio is inverted at the lower end of the scale where of the 27 companies to be tarred with a ‘poor’ ranking all but two emanate from the UK and Ireland including utilities providers, financial services firms, transport operators and gambling businesses.

To compile its rankings RepTrak considered products and services, innovation, workplace, governance, citizenship, leadership and performance ranking them on a scale of 1-100 based on overall reputation.
