Manchester marketers get musical for charity with Industry Sounds event
Cuckoo Design, The Manchester Publicity Association (MPA) and Silverback Social have joined forces to create a new music event celebrating design, music and all things creative, Industry Sounds.
The event takes place on 21 April in the Kings Arms pub owned by Paul Heaton and will be hosted by music journalist John Robb. Industry Sounds brings together members of the creative design and marketing community to showcase their musical talents, with all profits donated to Manchester-based charitable organisation Nelly Globe, which supports creative projects for people affected by trauma.
Cindy Simmons, managing director of the MPA, said: “The MPA champions collaboration, innovation and inspiration and we are always looking at ways we can engage with the Creative, Digital and Media industries that make up our membership and beyond. Cuckoo Design approached us a while ago with the desire to create an inspiring music event and here we are Industry Sounds – a great concept that will grow and grow celebrating creativity through music.”
The line up for the night includes some Manchester talent including, The Rainband (who will be taking a break from their current album tour to perform), The G-O-D, The River Versus, and Inhale. All artists are from member agencies of the MPA.
Phil Rainey, board and creative director of Cuckoo Design, which created the Industry Sounds name, branding and website, said: “Music and design go together like Morrissey and Marr. We wanted to start an event that celebrates this, and the vast number of people in this city who work daily in design studios and nightly in recording ones.”
The inaugural Industry Sounds Event will be proudly supported by NME, which relaunched as a free title in September of last year.
