Irreverent porn site xHamster has blocked North Carolina citizens' access to adult movies in response to the US state’s recent passing of a bill that prevents the creation of laws to protect the rights of LBGT people.

The company released viewing figures for gay and shemale porn videos calling out the “incredible hypocrisy of North Carolina”. Access to porn in the region has been blocked with xHamster urging North Carolina to “stop your homophobic insanity”.

This would require a repeal of House Bill 2 that came into play as of 23 March.

An xHamster spokesperson told the HuffPost: “We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate.

“Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them.”

The site is among many high profile brands and individuals boycotting the state until it amends its current anti-LGBT legislature.
