Lewandowski turned himself into police in Jupiter, Florida at around 8am this morning (29 March) after 28 year-old Michelle Fields filed charges against him for an incident which occurred on at a Trump rally on 8 March in Florida.

Police released footage which showed the 41 year-old forcefully grabbing Fields by the arm and pulling her back as she attempted to ask Donald Trump a question.

The police report states: “Lewandowski grabbed Fields’s left arm with his right hand causing her to turn and step back.” Fields showed police her left forearm which “appeared to show a grabbing-type injury”, according to the investigating officer.

Fields maintains that Lewandowski nearly threw her to the ground and posted images of bruising on her arm where he had grabbed her. She later resigned from Breitbart a week later, stating that the rightwing news site failed to support her.

Trump said his campaign manager was “absolutely innocent”. He “will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated,” the Republican frontrunner said.

Lewandowski is due to appear in court on 4 May.
