South West Trains pays homage to Boaty McBoatFace with light-hearted name change
South West Trains has weaved another layer of storytelling to the Boaty McBoatFace saga, by naming its service from Portsmouth to Waterloo as Trainy McTrainface.
The service issued a reference to the trolls who have hijacked the Natural Environment Research Council's (Nerc) #NameOurShip campaign, opting to name a £200m Royal Research Ship RRS Boaty McBoatFace.
Following the unlikely shipping tale, reaching many social media and media feeds, the train service has made a playful nod to mishap.

A South West Trains spokeswoman told the Evening Standard that the service will not be named Trainy McTrainFace indefinitely, admitting that uit was a “one-off”.
"It is a one-off by one of our creative guards who wanted to bring a smile to the face of our customers."
