HBO's hit series Game of Thrones returns for its much anticipated sixth season on 24 April and to appeal to fans' appetite for the new episodes, the network kicked off a 50-day countdown to season six on HBO Now.

Fans are invited to join the #GoT50 countdown experience, which focuses on one episode each day, and follow along on Twitter, where HBO and special guests live-tweet the episodes and provide special content. The #GoT50 countdown started on 5 March with the very first episode of Game of Thrones and will conclude on 23 April.

For each of the series' previous seasons, HBO appointed a super fan who live-tweets the episodes. The #GoT50 super fans are the fan accounts/Twitter cosplayers @NiceQueenCersei, @Daenerys, @GoT_Tyrion and @LordSnow, who will each comment on the episodes as their characters.

The official Game of Thrones Twitter account is also involved in the rewatch as it shares special GIFs from the respective episodes and retweets fans, who are highly encouraged to participate in the conversation and to tweet along using the hashtag #GoT50.

The series' official blog MakingGameofThrones.com is involved in the countdown event as well and shares photos, videos, cast commentary and insights from behind-the-scenes, starting with '50 Surprising Things About Season 1'.
