Future Plc has announced the appointment of Time Inc’s Matt Downs and Telegraph Media Group’s John Burke to their senior commercial sales team, creating the first-ever head of tech partnerships role as the company moves into digital ground.

Matt Downs joins Future as director of agency sales. He comes from Time Inc where he held multiple senior positions as well as serving on the Time Inc advertising board in a 16-year run, most recently holding the position of group creative media director. In his new role Downs will be responsible for all aspects of agency relationships and trading.

Matt Downs said although the company is a plc, “it has the mentality and culture of a digital start-up”, adding: “This means a fast-moving, agile environment that facilitates exciting, innovative and engaging solutions for all our commercial partners - it’s exactly where I want to be.”

John Burke joins Future as head of tech partnerships. He comes from the Telegraph Media Group where he held the same role. In this newly-created role for Future, Burke will be responsible for creating and growing partnerships between their market leading tech portfolio and the world’s most exciting tech brands.

Burke said: “I am thrilled to be joining Future at such an exciting time in their evolution. With its portfolio of the trusted technology brands and a truly global presence, I am looking forward to being able to offer both clients and agencies valuable insight into how to unlock the true potential of their commercial partnerships with us.”

Both Downs and Burke start with immediate effect.
