Explaining why he chose Adidas, Pogba said: “This is the first sponsor contract I’ve signed and it’s a very important decision for me. I chose Adidas because we have shared passions and values. Adidas has the same vibe as I do, on and off the pitch.
“I love music, dance and fashion but my biggest passion is football and I needed a brand that would give me the space to express myself and explore new frontiers. In Adidas I found a partner with the same goals as me.”
To coincide with the confirmation of the deal, which has been widely rumoured since mid-February, the German sports brand unveiled Pogba’s official football boots. The exclusive gold and black Ace 16+ Pure Control kicks were co-created by Pogba and will initially only be given to him.
Discussing his involvement in the creation process, the French international midfielder said: “Adidas believes in my dream of building hype in the world of football. I hope I can leave a footprint and add something exciting and new to this iconic brand. The best is yet to come. This is Pogboom.”
Football is increasingly becoming a main driver of growth for Adidas, particularly in China where the sport is quickly flourishing as a result of significant financial investments.
