The Drum has partnered with IBM Interactive Experience to create a series of films during Mobile World Congress exploring how mobile is fundamentally changing the way businesses operate and how consumers engage with them.

Today, The Drum Asia Editor Charlotte McEleny interviewed a robot.

The robot is Pepper, the world’s first emotional robot. Pepper is widely available on the consumer and business markets in Japan and is soon arriving in the US and Europe

Pepper is designed to read emotions and recognize tones of voice and facial expressions to let it interact with humans.

It was developed by SoftBank and Aldebaran Robotics, and is powered by IBM’s Watson.

Following a quick chat with Pepper, a first for the robot-loving McEleny, she talked to its human minder, Julien Seret, VP Enterprise and EMEA Marketing, Aldebaran.
