As tensions between the US and Russia remain frayed, a Russian marketing firm has tapped Moscow's apparent distaste for US president Barack Obama in an anti-smoking campaign spanning the country.

The OOH creative claims that “Smoking kills more people than Obama, even though Obama has killed a lot of people.”

It concludes: “Don't smoke! You don't want to look like Obama.”

Obama claims he has stopped smoking while in the White House but may have been last year caught engaging in the vice. These allegations no doubt helped in the development of the ad.

Russian MP Dimitry Godkov posted the campaign to Facebook, dubbing it “disgusting and embarrassing”.

Анекдоты с бородой — в жизнь. «У нас в СССР — свобода слова! Я тоже могу выйти на Красную площадь и сколько угодно ругат...

The campaign takes aim at America’s involvement in wars in the Middle East, tallying the death toll of casualties against those reputed to have died from complications arising from tobacco addiction.
