Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has partnered with Thai pay-TV operator CTH to launch the first Paramount Channel in Asia, with streaming rights for both over the top (OTT) and linear TV.

The deal will also see a new licensing deal for MTV Thailand to be moved over to CTH, with ad sales for the channels falling under both CTH and VIMN Asia.

“We’re proud to be the first to offer Paramount Channel in Asia and to make it the first 24-hour movie channel available to our subscribers across multiple screens. We continue to be single-minded in giving our subscribers the best viewing experience and high quality content,” said Amarit Sukhavanij, CEO of CTH.

The 24-hour movie channel will launch with Paras Sharma leading the new channel in Asia, while continuing in his current role as senior vice president of MTV & Comedy Central brands and digital media in the region.

“Paramount Channel meets the growing entertainment demands for more curated movie experiences in Asia, delivering an optimal mix of Academy Award winners, action hits, classics, romances, horror movies, dramas, and family films. Our library is home to the biggest stars and this will shape our programming as audiences relive the unforgettable moments and great film franchises in the comfort of their own homes,” said Sharma.

As well as now being distributed in Asia, Paramount Channel has deals in Spain, France, Russia, Romania, Hungary, Latin America and Italy (to be launched in February 2016).
