Jordan will join the team alongside world record-breaking German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, renowned motoring journalist and YouTube petrolhead Chris Harris, and car reviewer and TV presenter Rory Reid.

Jordan’s colourful personality and following in the Formula One world will likely draw in the sport’s huge global audience to show which is due to return in May. The Dublin-born entrepreneur has a long affiliation with the sport having started his own team, Jordan Grand Prix, which gave many legendary racers their start in the sport, including Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine.

Discussing his inclusion on the show Jordan said he was “giddy with excitement.”

He added: “Cars are in my DNA and although I’ve been fortunate enough to accomplish most things I ever aspired to in motorsport, presenting Top Gear is quite simply the icing on the cake.”

Sabine Schmitz, will be Top Gear’s first female presenter in 15 years, said: “I grew up next to the Nurburgring, and have been racing for most of my life, so the chance to combine both driving and filming was too good an opportunity to pass up.”

Motoring journalist Chris Harris said Top Gear helped shaped his obsession with cars and admitted that he was “happy to get into trouble, so I'm hoping I can underpin the programme with journalistic credibility but still cause some mischief.

Roray Reid, who presented for CNET’s Car Tech channel and Sky 1’s Gadget Geeks series, comes on board after being chosen from the show’s public auditions.

He said: “When I submitted my 30-second audition tape, I knew the odds were very firmly against me, as the auditions were open to absolutely everybody. To be the only person to make it through the open audition process makes me immensely proud.”

With the full cast now unveiled for the show Evan’s will be keen to get things underway and move on from the reports of unrest that are said to have plagued the show since his arrival.
