Pornhub has settled on a new philanthropic venture to save an endangered animal, fuelled by the volume of views on its salacious content.

Celebrating World Whale Day on 13 February, Pornhub will donate a penny for every 2,000 videos viewed on the site.

From today (8 February), right until the end of February donors will help contribute to the survival of the majestic sperm whale, by aiding the Moclips Cetological Society.

As part of the campaign, the company is also measuring, how many times, its users, like the graceful endangered beasts, "blow their loads".

To date, it’s counted a total of 433,946,449 video views, although this number, unlike the sperm whale, will not be in decline.

The announcement comes as the company ups its PR machine, utilising its extensive data and audience to generate publicity. Most recently it unveiled that the number of people visiting the site greatly surged during Storm Jonas.
