An unfortunate spelling typo brought ridicule upon the UK Home Office after it misspelled the word language in a press release announcing that migrants would have to pass a basic English test to enter the country.

The government department’s announcement for the ‘New English langauge test for family route migrants’ would see listening and speaking tests issues to some looking to enter the country.

The release read: “The new A2 requirement delivers the Government's manifesto commitment to ensure that those coming to the UK on a family visa with only basic English will become more fluent over time.

"It will mean that the person can better engage in everyday conversation and thereby better participate and integrate in everyday life in the community."

Some social media users speculated that the staff member behind the typo would fail the language test and would, as a result, be deported.
